Thomas D. Harper, founding partner of the firm, has over 30 years experience in insurance defense. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, where he graduated magna cum laude and was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Harper earned his law degree from the University of Georgia, also graduating magna cum laude. He was a member of both the Georgia Law Review and Order of the Coif.

Mr. Harper has been designated as a Law Assistant Emeritus to the Supreme Court of Georgia. His civic activities include service as past Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Ethics and past Chairman of the City of Smyrna's Planning and Zoning Board.

Mr. Harper has been sole defense counsel in over 250 civil jury trials and in excess of fifty (50) reported appellate decisions.

Mr. Harper has tried eleven (11) direct actions against insurance companies involving claims for punitive damages. No plaintiff received an award of punitive damages in any of those cases, and in only one (1) was there a verdict for any penalties. Nine (9) out of the eleven (11) resulted in outright defense verdicts.

Russell D. Waldon has over 25 years experience in civil and criminal trial practice. Mr. Waldon received his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and his law degree from the Emory University School of Law (with honors), where he was named to the Order of the Coif, Order of Barristers and Moot Court Special Teams.

Since 1982, Mr. Waldon has represented thousands of individuals and corporations in civil and criminal cases throughout the State of Georgia. In addition to his civil litigation practice, Mr. Waldon heads Harper, Waldon & Craig’s criminal defense section.

In addition to holding a variety of leadership positions in legal and community groups, Mr. Waldon has served as an instructor for the Trial Advocacy Program at Emory University School of Law and as a Continuing Legal Education speaker for the Georgia Bar Association. He was named a Super Lawyer by his peers in Atlanta Magazine for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. He is also an experienced private pilot and sailor.






J. Blair Craig, II

J. Blair Craig, II began the practice of law in 1977. He has since represented numerous insurers and their insureds, oftentimes in the most serious cases, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death. He has been lead counsel in excess of 250 jury trials and in excess of 35 reported appellate decisions.

Mr. Craig has handled and resolved numerous cases through alternative dispute resolution via arbitrations and mediations. He has also been called upon to testify as an expert witness in cases alleging “bad faith” claims against insurers.

He has for many years been “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia and is an avid Bulldog fan.

Hilliard V. Castilla joined the firm in 1990 and practices in the areas of insurance defense and commercial litigation. Mr. Castilla obtained his undergraduate degree from Jackson State University and his law degree from the University of Virginia. He served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Joseph W. Hatchett of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Castilla has been appointed as advisor to the Children & the Courts Committee for the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Castilla is also a volunteer attorney for the Truancy Intervention Program as well as a member of MADD.

Daniel C. Prout, Jr. joined the firm in 1994 and practices in the area of insurance defense and general civil litigation. Jonathan M. Adelman joined the firm in 1996 and practices in the areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage, motor vehicle liability, trucking liability, general liability, and civil/commercial litigation. He represents individuals, corporations, and insurance companies in state and federal courts, both at the trial and the appellate levels. Mr. Adelman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Georgia State University. Mr. Adelman served as a lead articles editor on the Georgia State University Law Review.

Since joining Harper, Waldon & Craig, Mr. Adelman has been lead counsel in more than 70 jury trials. In addition, Mr. Adelman has presented arguments to the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the South Carolina Court of Appeals.

Mr. Adelman is a frequent lecturer and is “AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, the Atlanta Claims Association, and the National Association of Professional Insurance Investigators. For 2009 and 2010, Mr. Adelman was named a Super Lawyer by his peers in Atlanta Magazine.

Rakhi Dalal McNeill joined the firm in 2009 and practices in the areas of insurance defense and motor vehicle liability. Ms. McNeill received her undergraduate degree in international business from the University of Georgia (magna cum laude). She also earned her law degree from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. McNeill practiced real estate law in Braselton, Georgia.

Ms. McNeill serves on the Board of Directors for Project-Safe, Inc., a non-profit organization working to end domestic violence against women. Ms. McNeill speaks conversational Spanish.
